Panama photography won contest...

Got notified that this photo above "Ocean Front" that I took while in Panama last week, won a contest on Bungolow.com. So cool. I think this is the best way to kick off the blast for my travel photography. Whether it's member cards for the Tribe, the next batch of T-shirts, everything all the funds raised go to help fuel the continued movement forward.

Please support! Even buying one photo makes a difference! CHECK OUT THE PANAMA PHOTOS HERE!

Jet Set Zero Season 8: Thailand Episode 1...it begins...

Yea, yea I know, it's been a year and a half since I last posted and was a part of the Jet Set Zero camp. 1.5 years later they just dropped the first episode from the season I was on... I have to laugh at this. So much has changed. So much growth has occured. It's crazy even thinking about it all. When I found out it was coming out my heart started racing...namely because I'm o far beyond this point in my life.

1.5 years ago I was:

  • Dealing with the death of oneof my best friend's, Rudi (2 months before being on Jet Set Zero)
  • In love and in a relationship with Nel (we have been broken up for almost a year now)
  • In a serious place of despise with Tyler (if I saw him now on the street, I'd actually say hello with a clear heart)
  • Heavier in the heart, due to all I was going through

So what makes this weird, is not the seeing yourself in the 3rd person, but all the things that have changed since then.

I also find it quite ironic that they chose to launch this now..but as they say in Japanese (Shogonai).

Conner Varin's Photography in Glamour South Africa...

Many of you know Stephanie (Conner Varin) from her previous feature as a Nomad•ness Gal, and/or as one of my closest friends. In the end of October, this woman packed up her life and moved to Jo'Burg, South Africa on some 'I'm just going to make it work' type ish.

And through the ups and downs, that's exactly what she's doing.

Today in the Tribe she posted up a seemingly innocent link...until I clicked it. This woman has worked her magic onto the Glamour Online Magazine of South Africa... pow!

vulnerability...

Those who have been around the world of Evie for awhile know that this travel obsession started around 2006, yet I'd been in the blogging realm since 2004 with (dare I resurrect the name) evitaspen.com when all I did was spoken word based....and extrememly personal, vulnerable.

With that said....

I'm in a super vulnerable state right now, and I haven't felt this way in a really long time. It's freaking me out. I left the Tribe, in Panama, with a little bit more than I bargained for and my heart is fighting my head. My running shoes are laced up, tied tight, but for some reason the door is locked baracaded and I can't get the f*ck out. I'm in the room searching for windows, planning my escape, only to find out that the only way out, is up. And to get up, I have to rely on the arms, intention, help, protection, and care of someone else here with me. The thing is, there are others at the top who want to play hero. They're yelling down to me, offering to drop rope, ladders, whatever it takes to get me out. Yet, for some reason.....I'm thinking about counting on the arms, intention, help, protection, and care of the one who is down here with me.

If I allow myself to be vulnerable...
